Death toll surges in Europe

Affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the death toll in Europe has surged.

According to the figures released by Eurostat local time on January 14. The total number of deaths in the EU-27 in November 2021 was 27% higher than the same period in a normal year before the pandemic. Among them, Bulgaria and Romania, located in the Balkans, recorded more than 80% more deaths in the month than in normal years.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the month with the largest increase in the number of deaths in EU countries compared with the same period in previous years was November 2020, with 40% more deaths in that month than before the epidemic.
