On January 9, 2022, local time, a fire broke out in a high-rise residential building in the Bronx district of New York City, USA, killing at least 19 people, including 9 children.
The Associated Press reported that the fire also injured more than 60 people, of which at least 13 people are in critical condition and are being rescued.
The number of casualties was confirmed by Stefan Ringel, a senior adviser to New York Mayor Eric Adams.
According to previous media reports, there are 22 people with relatively minor injuries and no life threats. Eric Adams said this may be one of the worst fires in New York City’s modern history.
