Israel and Germany sign deal to buy submarines

The Israeli Ministry of Defense issued a statement on the 20th saying that Israel and Germany signed an agreement to purchase three submarines in Tel Aviv that day.

Under the agreement, Israel will spend 3 billion euros to buy three submarines from Germany’s Thyssen-Krupp Marine Systems. The first submarine will be delivered to Israel in nine years. The agreement also stipulates that Thyssen-Krupp Marine Systems will build training simulators in Israel and provide related spare parts.

Israel and Germany also signed a strategic cooperation agreement totaling 850 million euros on the same day.

Israeli Defense Minister Gantz tweeted on the 20th that the new submarine will enhance the combat effectiveness of the Israeli navy and help Israel continue to maintain its military superiority in the Middle East.
