U.S. ships second shipment of military aid to Ukraine

On April 4, local time, a U.S. Department of Defense official said that the United States shipped military aid, including Stinger and Javelin missiles, as well as unmanned aerial systems, to Ukraine. The aid is part of an announcement by the U.S. Department of Defense of $300 million in additional security assistance to Ukraine.

The U.S. Department of Defense press secretary John Kirby said at a news conference on April 4 that the United States will continue to support Ukraine and safeguard its ability to defend itself. The U.S. has pledged more than $2.3 billion worth of security assistance to Ukraine since this administration.

Kirby also said the U.S. and other NATO allies are conducting drills “North Viking” in Iceland, which will run until April 14.
