US imposes sanctions on Russian darknet market

On April 5, local time, the U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctions on the Russian darknet market “Hydra”. At the same time, the United States also cooperated with the German police to shut down the “Hydra” server in Germany.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen said in a statement that the Treasury Department is still identifying more than 100 virtual currency addresses associated with “Hydra” operations that have been used to conduct illegal transactions. In addition, illegal virtual currency exchange operators will also be strictly investigated and held accountable.
